Students are encouraged to research the works of B.F. Skinner for Behaviorism.
With this, it is beneficial to research modern scholars and their approach to this learning theory.
Holistically, what is Behaviorism? How and when can it be applied to our 21st Century classrooms?
Reading about different theories of learning brings up the question of how to incorporate these different perspectives and ideas into your lesson planning, experiential teaching, and/ or student-teacher interactions. Please discuss an idea and/or insight that you have had as a result of reading and researching Behaviorism. Did something you read ring particularly true, remind you of a personal experience, or stimulate your imagination?
The characteristics of a constructivist classroom are as follows:
the learners are actively involved
the environment is democratic
the activities are interactive and student-centered
Arguably, the most acclaimed theorists for Constructivism are Dewey, Bruner, Piaget, and Vygotsky. These researchers are truly giants within this most famous learning theory and should be researched for your Annotated Bibliography.
Study Constructivism! Its relevance is remarkable in today’s classrooms.
In this forum discussion please share what research findings “jumped out” for you. That is, what did you find which makes sense, speaks to you as an educator, etc…? Which Constructivist theorist presented this to you?
Then, please share an anecdote about using or seeing Constructivist Theory being put into practice in a classroom or other education or training environment. Did you think it was effective ? Why or Why not?
● Specific Learning Theories will be emphasized throughout the course. Students will be guided to research and critically analyze findings for authenticity and ethical application in the 21st Century Classroom. These efforts will serve as a guide for students in the research process.
Students will create an Annotated Bibliography of resources addressing the Learning Theories presented for research and study. Each Learning Theory will be outlined with a minimum of three juried sources to ensure proper saturation. Learning Theories and Practices addressed – Behaviorism
