ASSIGNMENT DESCRIPTION:
Instructions for Statistical Exercise #2
Use descriptive statistics, Chi-Square tests, t-tests, and one-way ANOVAs to evaluate the 2020 Humane Efforts to Lead People (HELP) Volunteer Training sessions using the data made available in the attached MS Excel spreadsheet.
Answer the questions presented on page 2.
(Note: please write the answers out in narrative format using the statistical presentation styles in relation to how you would write up a program evaluation.). Do not cut/paste the tables. You must write up the findings and interpret the output using the information.
For this exercise, you are evaluating the HELP volunteer training sessions. The corresponding data file has column headers indicating what the variable is, but the following list provides further clarification as to the full question as well as what the numbers in the columns indicate.
Purpose Statement
The purpose of this research is to determine if the volunteers felt that their training session was helpful in understanding the organization and their role in delivering programs and services.
Research Questions
RQ1: Is the volunteer training session worthwhile?
RQ2: Do volunteers see themselves as being critical to our organization’s success?
Column A: Location where Data was Collected (1 = San Jose office, 2 = San Francisco office)
Column B: Individual Type (1 = Blue collar, 2 = White collar, 3 = Undecided)
Column C: Volunteer weekly for 5 hours? (1 = yes, 2 = no)
Column D (RQ1): I left the training session feeling ready to volunteer for the nonprofit.
Column E (RQ1): The volunteer training session was a good use of my time.
Column F (RQ1): My questions about volunteering with the nonprofit were answered during the training session.
Column G (RQ2): I understand how my work helps the nonprofit.
Column H (RQ2): I was made to feel part of the nonprofit by the instructors at the volunteer training session.
[NOTE: Columns D through H are measured where 1 = strongly disagree, 9 = strongly agree]
Column I: Gender (1 = Male, 2 = Female)
Column J: Age
Column K: Race (1 = African-American/Black, 2 = Asian/Pacific Islander, 3 = Caucasian, 4 = Hispanic/Latino, 5 = Middle Eastern, 6 = Native American, 7 = Other)
Column L: Education (1 = High School diploma, 2 = Some College, 3 = Bachelor’s Degree, 4 = Graduate Degree)
Questions to Answer in Your Narrative Report
(i.e., Do NOT write your answers following each question but prepare an executive report)
1) Describe the composition of the participants who took the survey. This should include four demographic variables (gender, race/ethnicity, education, and age) and one categorical descriptor (Location where people completed their volunteer training). For this question report frequencies and percentages when appropriate and also measures of central tendency (mean, standard deviation, mode, and median) when appropriate.
2) To address the first research question, describe the participants’ evaluation of the HELP volunteer sessions in terms of their feeling ready to volunteer after the session, whether it was a good use of their time, and whether their questions were answered using the measures of central tendency (mean, standard deviation, and median). Next, use an independent t-test to determine whether there was a difference between men and women in terms of how they evaluated the volunteer training sessions. Also, use an independent t-test to determine whether there was a difference between people who took the volunteer training session at the San Jose and San Francisco offices.
3) The second research question examined whether volunteers feel as if they are important to the nonprofit. To answer this question, describe the participants’ evaluation of their work helping the organization and whether they feel part of the organization based on the instructors at the sessions using the measures of central tendency (mean, standard deviation, and median). Next, use an independent t-test to determine whether there was a difference between men and women in terms of how they evaluated the volunteer training sessions. Also, use an independent t-test to determine whether there was a difference between people who took the volunteer training session at the San Jose and San Francisco offices.
4) Conduct a Chi-square test that tests whether white-collar, blue-collar, or undecided volunteers were more likely to commit to being able to volunteer 5 hours or more per week. For each test, state the null hypothesis and the alternative hypothesis. Report the number of people in each cell and write up the statistical finding reporting the appropriate statistics.
5) Finally, conduct a one-way ANOVA to determine whether the different volunteer types (white collar, blue collar, or undecided) felt differently about the volunteer sessions (felt ready to volunteer after the session, whether it was a good use of their time, and whether questions were answered). Report the mean scores and standard deviations as well as the statistics used to determine statistical significance for the one-way ANOVA (F-value, degrees of freedom, and p-value).

What People Are Saying

I had casually placed an order on Lesson-edu.info for a short essay and wanted to see if their claim of timely delivery of tasks was true or not. The assignment was not delivered on time, but the quality of the essay was also remarkable.
