Differentiated Unit Plan Part 1: General Plan
The candidate will complete the Differentiated Unit Plan Part 1: General Plan template. They will create a class description and make sure to include a student with ESL and a student with a disability. This information should correlate with your class description in your Lesson Plan Part 1. Create a week’s worth of block lesson plans for your chosen SOL as described in earlier assignments. Include sample activities, forms, and assessments that go along with your plan. There should be a minimum of one example for each of the 5 days of plans for your unit. Utilize the scoring rubric as well as the Sample Differentiated Unit Plan Part 1 provided to guide you.
Differentiated Unit Plan Part 2: Accommodations
Utilizing the Differentiated Unit Plan Part 2: Accommodations Template, the candidate will create 10 accommodations to support students with the week of lesson plans submitted for the previous week’s assignment. These accommodations should individualize the lessons for students with various disabilities. Utilize the Sample Differentiated Unit Plan Part 2 to help guide you, as well as the rubric which explains specific expectations and details that need to be included in the final plan to include a classroom arrangement model and rationale, a re-written text, and assistive technology, in addition to other accommodations to support students with the unit prepared in the Differentiated Unit Plan Part 1. The chapter text from the unit of study is rewritten at a lower reading level or using pictures for a nonreader for one of the unit accommodations, and the candidate has identified a lower level reading text. It is labeled with an approximate reading level in which the text was rewritten.
I will supply both instructions. Part 2 builds off of Part 1. And they both build off of two previous lesson plans that will be included (Lesson Plan Part 1: General Plan and Lesson Plan Part 2: Differentiated). The templates that have to be used will also be provided along with samples for each.
Both differentiated plans that are being done are based off a “life science unit” that was mapped out in Lesson Plan Part 1: General Plan and Lesson Plan Part 2: Differentiated.
